Shankeshwar:

 

Shankeshwar is a small town located in the Patan district of Gujarat. Shankeshwar is dedicated to Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan, one of the renowned pilgrim spots at the Shankeshwar, and this place has quite an importance among the Jain community. There are some other Jain pilgrims temples located near Shankeshwar. Temple's most visited attraction is the idol of Lord Shankeshwar, also known as Mulnayak, which stands at the height of approximately 182 meters.

 

History:

 

This place was built in the year 1098 by the Sajjan Shah at the bank of river Rupan. Later Vasupal Tejpal renovated the temple under the instructions of Vardhamansuri in the year 1229; later, this temple was destroyed by the Alauddin Khilji in the 14th century, and later it was being built again in the 16th century under the supervision of Vijaysensuri.
