Sidi Sayed Mosque
Sidi Sayed Mosque is one of the remarkable structures of Ahmadabad that lies on the eastern edge of Nehru Bridge. It is the last mosque built in Ahmadabad under the Mughal emperor. Sidi Sayed Mosque is famous for its craftsmanship, and its architecture is quite wonderful, which took Islamic belief to the peak. Visitors are quite impressed with its ancient historic architecture.
Now let us dig into the history of the Sidi Sayed Mosque. It is built in 1572 by the Siddi Sayyid with the help of 45 skilled artisans. A marble tablet found in the mosque premises states that it is built by the Sidi Sayed during the last sultanate of Gujarat. It does not have a courtyard, and it is quite smaller in size as compare to the Jama Masjid. There are many iconic windows with intricate inside the mosque. Windows are stone filigree jaalis that represent the tree of life.
The mosque is open the days from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and there is no entry fee to visit the mosque. All of you can visit the mosque anytime, but it is not advisable to visit the mosque during prayer time, especially on Friday. Special sessions are being conducted every Sunday for pilgrims seeking clarification for the religious practice and holy books.
Apart from it, one can enjoy popular refreshments like the old lucky tea stall underneath Neem Tree, and it is a house painted by the famous painter M.F. Hussain.
