Western ghats:

Shivneri fort:
One of the most famous Maratha emperors, Chhatrapati Shivaji, was born here. The great ruler is claimed to have received his early schooling here. Seven gates must be passed to enter the fort, demonstrating how successfully it was guarded against foreign troops. A lovely pond and a sculpture of Shivaji and his mother, Jijabai, can be found inside the fort.

Lal Mahal:
Shahaji Bhosale, the father of Chhatrapati Shivaji, built this historic structure in Pune, which also goes by the name Red Palace. The contemporary monument is an exact replica of the old palace, and this location has served as a meeting place for Maratha kings and other invaders.
Sinhagarh fort:
This fort is 25 kilometres from either Pune city and is thought to be approximately 2000 years old. Sinhagad, which means "the fort of the lion," has seen several battles, including the Combat of Sinhagad in 1671. One may also see the gorgeous and splendid vista of the Sahyadri hills from the top of the cliff.

By road: Pune has excellent access to nearby cities and towns through a well-kept road network. Several state and highway buses connect Bombay (140 km), Ahmednagar (122 kilometres), Aurangabad (216 kilometres), and Bijapur (275 km) with Pune. Driving from Mumbai requires taking the 150 km Maharashtra Expressway route, which can be completed in just 2 to 3 hours.
