Chittorgarh:

 

Chittorgarh is the capital of kingdom Mewar, and it is the land of citadels, forts and other monuments. It is the land of evidence of sacrifices, heroism. Chittorgarh is located in the southeastern region of the Rajasthan and is well-known for its Chittorgarh Fort, which is the largest fort of India and built upon the top of the hills. It is spreading in around 700 acres, and it is pretty famous for Rani Padmavati self-sacrificing “Jauhar”.

 

Chittorgarh is associating with the Rajputana pride and so many other battles, especially Alauddin Khilji. The Maurya built Chittorgarh Fort in the seventh century, and it has 22 water bodies, towers, places and other temples. It is one of the strongest forts in India, and the main attractions are a couple of commemoration towers, i.e. Kirti Stambh and Vijay Stambh.

 

Chittorgarh is the central place for shopaholics where visitors can buy metal works, fabrics and other handmade toys.

 

Another attraction of the city is the biggest Rajputana festival called Jauhar Mela, in honor of all the ancestors of all the three Jauhars that happened in the fort.

Rani Padmini Fort:

 

Rani Padmini Fort is located in the Chittorgarh Fort, the three-story building that stands beside the lotus pool. It was the place where Ala-ud-din saw the image of Rani Padmavati and flattened at her beauty.

 

Rana Kumbha Palace:

 

It is one of the oldest places in the fort and was constructed by the Rana Kumbha in the year 1433 to 68. This palace has many balconies, stable of horse and elephant places. However, most of the famous places are ruined. One can also see the Ganesha temple and chamber where Jauhar had been performed.

 

Archeological Museum of Chittorgarh:

 

The museum is also another centre point of attraction of Chittorgarh. It has house paintings and other sculptures and is located at the eastern end of Banbir-ki-Diwar.

 

Apart from it, there are so many other places one should not miss while visiting Chittorgarh Fort: Gau Mukh Kund, Kalika Mata Temple, and Maha Sati Temple.

 

Best time to visit:

 

Chittorgarh remains open and welcome throughout the year, but the weather remains quite hot during the summer season. So it is advised to visit in the winter season, especially from October to March, to get the best travel experience.
